Red Eagle

This is the story of a Plains Indian boy, the son of a Sioux chief. Born with the handicap of a misshapen foot, he was the subject of ridicule and scorn, especially by the boys his age who naturally could run, swim and ride better than he could.

He had a friend though, an older brave who drew his attention to a few things at a moment when the lad was very upset and discouraged. What happens then makes a fine story that is both exciting and convincing.

After you have read it it, you will feel that it could have happened. Its details are so accurate and so colorful. The whole panorama of Indian life is complete and intriguing and yet so well worked into the plot that the action never slows, never stalls.

To read this book is to understand a great deal about our predecessors on this continent - to appreciate their culture and their high ideals of behavior.
